About Himalayan Nepalese Coffee
โA Taste from the Top of the Worldโ
๐ฑ History of Coffee in Nepal
Coffee was first introduced to Nepal in the mid-1930s when a hermit named Hira Giri brought a few coffee seeds from Myanmar (then Burma) and planted them in the Aapchaur region of Gulmi District in western Nepal. The plants flourished in the Himalayan soil and climate, but commercial cultivation remained limited until the 1980s.
In the late 20th century, Nepalese farmers, with support from local NGOs and government initiatives, began expanding coffee plantations in the mid-hill regions of Nepal, especially in Gulmi, Palpa, Syangja, Kaski,Ilam and Lalitpur. Today, Nepalese coffee is gaining recognition globally for its unique flavor profile, altitude, and organic cultivation practices.
